Our NPOP-certified, 100% organic Wild Forest Honey is harvested from the forest sanctuaries above 4,000 ft in the Aravalli hills. One of the world’s oldest mountain ranges, dating back 3.2 billion years, the Aravalli Range's unique ecology hosts a wide range of exotic trees.
MORHAV Organics’ rich golden honey is foraged by wild bees from over 40 rare flowering species. A golden, richly layered nectar, it offers a harmonious medley of tastes, earthy and floral, with woody undertones and a hint of bitterness from the neem and karanja blooms.
Used in sacred rituals since Vedic times
The empirical evidence of the use of honey—gathered from wild bees foraging natural forests —for religious purposes go back to Vedic times. The Rig Vedic chant, ‘Madhu vātā ṛtāyate madhukṣaranti sindhavaḥ…’ implies the use of honey in sacred rituals by metaphorically referring to honey as a symbol of prosperity, health and the sweetness of nature. The Atharva Veda, Upanishads and ancient Ayurvedic texts such as the Charakha Samhita too, mention madhu in a symbolic spiritual context with healing qualities.
Today, our Wild Forest Honey or van-madhukam, is collected much the same way as in the Vedic times - from undomesticated bees foraging the wild forests of the Aravalli hills. Raw, pure and packed with therapeutic qualities and rich symbolism, the honey is the perfect ingredient for Panchamrita – ‘the drink of the gods’, a sacred mixture of five special foods used in holy rituals.
Wild forest honey is also offered in yajnas to propitiate the gods; and to anoint deities during the abhishekham ceremonies. It is an important element used in all sacred sacraments or sanskars such as childbirth and marriage ceremonies. Today, Wild Forest Honey is used in religious rituals by all who understand the value of age-old Vedic wisdom.
Relevance to contemporary hospitality units:
It is particularly relevant for the HoReCa industry as it offers a sophisticated bouquet of finely blended tastes, pairing well with artisanal cheeses, grilled meats and elegant desserts. At the back-end, it goes into marinades, salad dressings, glazes and cocktails.
Particularly for wellness-forward hospitality units and Ayurvedic dining, Wild Forest Honey is the right fit – raw, organic & revered in Ayurveda as a natural detox agent. Since MORHAV honey is largely collected by local foragers using eco-sensitive methods, it’s also the choice of green-conscious outlets.
